For the detection and suppression of smuggling activities in the waters of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Customs and Excise Department deploys launches and craft for:

• round-the-clock anti-smuggling patrols;

  Sea-rider Inflatable Craft
• the pursuit and interception of speedboats and motorized sampans engaged in smuggling activities; and
  

  Shallow Water Craft

  

  High Speed Pursuit Craft
• conveying Customs officers for rummaging, patrol, surveillance and sea cargo examination duties.
