"Hong Kong Authorized Economic Operator" (HKAEO) Logo (hereinafter referred to as "Logo") was formally introduced on January 10, 2014. The Logo design expresses two ideas:
- Revolving globe: denoting cooperation among stakeholders to enhance international supply chain security;
- Interlocking arrows: denoting partnership between Customs & Excise Department (C&ED) and local industries to secure and facilitate global trade.
A company which has been accredited as a HKAEO is entitled to use the Logo on their promotional and publicity materials in accordance with the following principles, so that the company can be recognized by the public as a trusted partner of C&ED.
Period of Use
- A company may use the Logo within the validity period specified on the HKAEO certificate. In any case an AEO status is not renewed after its expiration, the company shall have to cease using the Logo immediately.
Scope
- The use of the Logo is restricted to HKAEO (excluding those of its subsidiary companies/ associations or affiliates).
- In order to avoid misleading, the Logo should not be used in the absence of a clear display of the name of the HKAEO.
- Logo generally applies to business cards, official website and other promotional activities of the HKAEO. The company shall, in accordance with the "Hong Kong Authorized Economic Operator Logo Application Guidelines", submit the sample of Logo design to C&ED for prior approval (individual application shall be made for each sample design).
Application Procedure
- Every sample design on how the Logo is being applied must be sent (preferably in jpg file) to the Office of Trade Relations and Public Communication via email (email: aeo@customs.gov.hk) for C&ED"s prior approval and record purpose.
- C&ED takes not less than seven working days to process the application and, where necessary, proposes modification to the submitted design. All designs bearing the Logo must be approved by C&ED before formal introduction.
Rights to Use
- A company shall ensure that the use of the Logo is legitimate, authentic, decent and does not contain any content of defamatory, discriminatory or insulting nature.
- In any case an AEO status is revoked by C&ED, the company shall lose its right to use the Logo immediately.
- C&ED may require the company to modify or terminate the use of the Logo. In case of any disputes, C&ED reserves the right on final decision.
