On invitation of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Customs participated in a seminar on the sideline of the 50th edition of the Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair on 10 January 2024 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
While the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is in its third year of operation, it has already started showing benefits to trade and industry businesses. To assist the toy industry to unleash the potential of the RCEP, the seminar featured presentations on (i) how regulatory frameworks impact toy trade in Asia; (ii) the distribution channels of toys in ASEAN countries; (iii) the Hong Kong Authorized Economic Operator Programme; and (iv) the Free Trade Agreement Transhipment Facilitation Scheme (FTA Scheme).
An officer of the Ports and Maritime Command (PMC) introduced the FTA Scheme, its latest development, and most importantly, shared how traders could make use of the Scheme to enjoy tariff concessions and improve competitiveness under the RCEP. PMC officers also took the opportunity to promote the FTA Scheme through promotional visits to exhibitors and distribution of leaflets.
If your association is interested in learning more about the FTA Scheme or would like to have an outreach programme arranged, please feel free to contact our Free Trade Agreement Transhipment Facilitation Unit at 3152 0233 or email to fta_enquiry@customs.gov.hk.
