On invitation of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Hong Kong Customs participated in an online business advisory workshop entitled "Meeting Mainland China's Enhanced Import Demand via Yangtze River Delta (YRD) Service Platforms" on 9 October 2023.
The workshop aimed at assisting trading business to capitalize emerging opportunities arising from the expansion of China's import trade. Featured topics included the Mainland consumer market; e-commerce; the Free Trade Agreement Transhipment Facilitation Scheme (FTA Scheme); and import tax liabilities.
An officer of the Ports and Maritime Command (PMC) introduced the FTA Scheme and shared how the Scheme could facilitate traders to enjoy preferential tariff treatment and to tap into the YRD market.
Hong Kong Customs will continue to promote the FTA Scheme and keep business abreast of its latest development so as to facilitate more cargoes passing through Hong Kong to enjoy preferential tariff under the FTAs between the Mainland of China and other economies.
If your association is interested in learning more about the FTA Scheme, please feel free to contact our Free Trade Agreement Transhipment Facilitation Unit at 3152 0233 or email to fta_enquiry@customs.gov.hk.
