Hong Kong Customs yesterday (March 1) seized about 1.3 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds in Kowloon City and arrested a man. The total market value of the drugs seized was about $186,000.
Officers of the Customs Drug Investigation Bureau yesterday evening intercepted a man in Kowloon City and found respectively on him and in his travelling bag 14 grams and 1.3kg of suspected cannabis buds that were concealed in 95 sealed tea bags.
The arrested man, aged 20 and claiming to be unemployed, was arrested for suspected trafficking in a dangerous drug. The case is still under investigation.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
