Hong Kong Customs seized about 2 kilograms of suspected ketamine at Lok Ma Chau Control Point yesterday (February 16). The market value of the drugs was about $250,000.
Customs officers found eight bags of suspected ketamine weighing a total of 2kg inside a paper bag carried by an incoming male during passenger clearance yesterday afternoon.
The 21-year-old man, who claimed to be a delivery worker, will be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (February 18).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
