With regard to Internet rumours that an officer from Hong Kong Customs was arrested by the Police following the seizure of arms in the officer's locker, a spokesman for Hong Kong Customs today (January 6) solemnly clarified that the rumours are unfounded.
Customs expresses regret over the intentional spread of confusing rumours.
The department reiterates that staff guidelines are established to regulate moral and disciplinary matters, and that strict requirements for officers' conduct and integrity are also set. It stresses that follow-up action will be taken in a serious manner if there is any violation of laws and regulations.
