Hong Kong Customs today (February 25) seized about 24 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated market value of about $26 million in Shau Kei Wan. A man was arrested.
During an anti-narcotics operation conducted in Shau Kei Wan this afternoon, Customs officers intercepted a man and found the batch of suspected cocaine inside an insulated food bag and two recycle bags carried by the man. The 25-year-old man was subsequently arrested.
An investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
