To mark the anniversary of the launch of the Road Cargo System (ROCARS), the Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) put its second ROCARS Mobile Registration Centre into operation today (May 17).
The mobile registration centre will travel between the outgoing vehicle holding areas of different land boundary control points to facilitate registration of cross-boundary truck drivers. Service hours of the mobile registration centre at control points are:
Man Kam To
Monday, Wednesday and Friday (9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 5pm)
Shenzhen Bay
Tuesday (9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 5pm)
Sha Tau Kok
Thursday (9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 5pm)
Meanwhile, the first ROCARS Mobile Registration Centre is stationed at the Lok Ma Chau Control Point and the service hours are Monday to Friday (9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 5pm).
The registration procedure is simple and easy. Truck drivers can present their Hong Kong Identity Card/People's Republic of China Exit-Entry Permit, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Driving Licence, Hong Kong Vehicle Registration Document and Closed Road Permit at the registration centre and Customs officers will provide assistance and explain to them how to use the ROCARS.
Encouraging the truck drivers to register with ROCARS, Assistant Commissioner (Boundary and Ports), Mr Yu Koon-hing, said the ROCARS provided a seamless customs clearance service to users.
"Upon full implementation of the system on November 17 this year, all users of the system, including the shippers, truck drivers and their agents, must first register with Customs before they can submit cargo information through the system for customs clearance," Mr Yu said.
He also appealed to shippers, agents and cross-boundary truckers to register and get acquainted with the system as early as possible.
