Hong Kong Customs seized about 62 kilograms of suspected liquid cocaine, worth about $65 million.
Customs officers examined an air consignment originating from Colombia to Hong Kong via the United States of America and declared as industrial machine at the Hong Kong International Airport on November 7. Suspicious images were found upon X-ray check. As a result of further examination, the suspected liquid cocaine was found from the machine.
The follow-up operation conducted by Customs officers over the last month led to the arrest of three men aged from 33 to 38. They have been put on bail pending further investigation.
Hong Kong Customs will continue to keep track of the latest drug trafficking trend and formulate pertinent anti-narcotics enforcement strategies accordingly. In addition, Hong Kong Customs will strengthen intelligence exchange with various overseas law enforcement agencies so as to combat transnational drug trafficking activities.
