Hong Kong Customs seized about 2 kilogrammes of suspected ketamine, with a market value of about $260,000, at the Lo Wu Control Point yesterday (July 21) and arrested a 19-year-old woman.
Customs officers intercepted an incoming female passenger at the Lo Wu Control Point last night and found the suspected drugs inside her shoulder bag.
The arrested woman, who claimed to be a chef, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. She will appear at Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (July 23).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
