Hong Kong Customs yesterday (June 12) seized a batch of suspected assorted drugs in Yau Ma Tei, including about 1.75 kilograms of cannabis buds, 0.85 kilogram of cannabis resin, 630 tablets of MDMA, one kilogram of MDMA powder, 1.7 kilograms of "ice" and 0.7 kilogram of cocaine. The market value of the drugs was about $1.7 million.
Customs officers yesterday evening intercepted a 33-year-old man in Yau Ma Tei and found a small amount of suspected cannabis buds carried by him. He was later escorted to two premises where the remaining drugs were found.
The man was arrested for suspected drug trafficking. He will appear at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on Monday (June 15).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
