Hong Kong Customs yesterday (February 24) seized 1.8 kilograms of ice and arrested two men in an anti-narcotics operation in Kwun Tong. The market value of the drug was about $770,000.
Customs officers intercepted two men in Kwun Tong last night and found a total of 1.8kg of ice inside nine paper boxes in a plastic bag carried by one of them.
The arrestees, both aged 19, claimed to be a student and unemployed. They were jointly charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Court tomorrow (February 26).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
