Hong Kong Customs yesterday (February 24) arrested two persons in Tin Shui Wai and seized around 4 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds and a small amount of suspected crack cocaine.
Officers of the Customs Drug Investigation Bureau yesterday found about 4kg of suspected cannabis buds and a small amount of crack cocaine in the boot of a private car at a car park in Tin Shui Wai. The market value of the drugs was about $740,000.
The two arrestees, a 26-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, claiming to be a construction worker and a salesperson respectively, were arrested for suspected drug trafficking. The case is still under investigation.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
