Customs yesterday (October 25) arrested a drug distributor who was active in New Territories North on Ching Hiu Road, Fanling and seized about 9 kilograms of ketamine with an estimate market value of $1 million.
Yesterday evening, Customs officers intercepted a man on Ching Hiu Road, Fanling and found some 2.3 kilograms of ketamine in his bag. Another 6.7 kilograms of ketamine was located inside his residence.
The unemployed man, aged 50, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. He will appear at Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (October 27).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence and the maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
