Hong Kong Customs seized about 3 kilogrammes of suspected methamphetamine at Lo Wu Control Point yesterday (March 5) and arrested a 34-year-old incoming passenger. The market value of the drug was about $1.2 million.
Customs officers intercepted an incoming man at Lo Wu Control Point yesterday afternoon and found that he was carrying the drug.
The arrested man, who claimed to be unemployed, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. He will appear at the Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (March 7).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
