Hong Kong Customs seized about 5.4 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds with an estimated market value of about $970,000 at a mail processing centre of Hongkong Post in Tuen Mun on March 15.
Customs officers inspected two parcels from Canada on March 15 and found a total of about 5.4 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds therein.
After follow-up investigation, Customs officers this afternoon (March 19) arrested an 18-year-old man suspected to be involved in the case in Kwun Tong.
Investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
