Hong Kong Customs seized about 2 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis buds and about 1kg of suspected methamphetamine at the Hong Kong International Airport and Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point on March 2 and today (March 8) respectively. The total estimated market value is about $830,000.
Customs officers inspected an air mail parcel from Canada on March 2 and seized about 2kg of suspected cannabis buds inside two pillows. Customs officers today arrested a woman, aged 20, suspected to be related to the case in Tai Wai.
In another development, Customs officers intercepted an incoming passenger this morning at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point and found about 1kg of suspected methamphetamine in his possession. The 67-year-old man was arrested.
Investigations on the two cases are ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
