Hong Kong Customs yesterday (March 2) seized about 440 grams of suspected cocaine and about 120 grams of suspected ketamine with an estimated market value of about $580,000 in Cheung Sha Wan.
During an anti-narcotics operation in Cheung Sha Wan yesterday afternoon, Customs officers intercepted a man and escorted him to a residential premises nearby and found about 420 grams of suspected cocaine and about 110 grams of suspected ketamine inside. The 20-year-old man was then arrested.
After follow-up investigation, Customs officers searched another premises at a public housing estate nearby and further seized about 20 grams of suspected cocaine and a small amount of suspected ketamine. A 23-year-old woman, being found therein, was then arrested.
Investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
