Customs officers arrested a woman at the Hong Kong International Airport and seized heroin with an estimated market value of about $4.87 million on January 13.
Customs officers intercepted a woman coming from Malaysia at the Arrival Hall of Hong Kong International Airport. Following a search, approximately 6.5kg of heroin was found from the false compartment of her suitcase and four books.
The arrestee, a 40-year-old woman who declares herself to be a saleslady, is charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. She appeared at the Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Court today (January 15).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is up to life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
