Hong Kong Customs today (January 20) seized 3 kilograms of suspected ketamine during an anti-narcotics operation in Yuen Long. The market value of the seizure was about $396,000. A man was arrested.
Customs officers intercepted a man in Yuen Long around noon today and found the suspected ketamine in his backpack. The man, aged 17, was arrested at the scene. He claimed to be unemployed and was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. The arrestee will appear at the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (January 21).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
