Hong Kong Customs yesterday (December 27) seized about 5 kilograms of suspected cocaine and 1 kilogram of suspected crack cocaine with an estimated market value of about $7.5 million in Sheung Shui.
During an anti-narcotics operation in Sheung Shui yesterday afternoon, Customs officers intercepted a man and found about 5kg of suspected cocaine inside a bag carried by him. The man, aged 18, was then arrested.
After investigation, Customs officers escorted the arrested man to a residential premises nearby where about 1kg of suspected crack cocaine and a batch of drug manufacturing and packaging paraphernalia were also seized.
Investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
