The Review Meeting between Hong Kong and Guangdong Customs was held in Hong Kong today (December 18). The delegations of the two sides were headed by the Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Mr Hermes Tang, and the Director General of the Guangdong Sub-Administration of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, Mr Li Shuyu.
The meeting reviewed the co-operation between the Guangdong and Hong Kong Customs on trade facilitation, anti-smuggling, anti-narcotics, intellectual property rights protection and staff training over the past two years. The two customs administrations also mapped out the Co-operation Plan for the coming two years.
On customs clearance, the two sides undertake to further strengthen various facilitation measures and explore new initiatives proactively to enhance customs clearance efficiency. On anti-smuggling, Hong Kong Customs will continue to co-ordinate with the Guangdong Sub-Administration in reinforcing intelligence exchange and mounting joint operations, so as to combat smuggling activities and, at the same time, strengthen the co-operation on suppressing drug trafficking activities and on intellectual property rights protection.
The two sides also agreed to continue to provide each other with training programmes and to arrange visits with a view to enhancing the enforcement and management capabilities of officers of the two customs administrations.
