The Customs yesterday (December 6) arrested a man suspected of trafficking about three kilogrammes of ketamine with an estimated value of $0.33 million at the Lo Wu Control Point.
Yesterday afternoon, Customs officers intercepted the 40-year-old man as he arrived from the Mainland. On inspection they found about two kilogrammes of ketamine attached and concealed around his body. A follow-up search at his residence discovered another kilogramme of ketamine.
The man, a construction worker, has been charged with the offence of "trafficking in a dangerous drug" and will appear at Fanling Magistrates' Court tomorrow (December 8).
Drug trafficking is a serious offence. Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, the maximum penalty for drug trafficking is up to life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
