Hong Kong Customs yesterday (November 26) seized about 4.2 kilogrammes of suspected ketamine at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point with a market value of about $530,000. An incoming passenger was arrested.
Customs officers intercepted an incoming female passenger at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point yesterday afternoon and found the suspected ketamine contained in plastic bags placed in her rucksack.
The 17-year-old arrestee, who claimed to be unemployed, was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. She will appear at the Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (November 28).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
