Hong Kong Customs today (November 28) seized 4.75 kilogrammes of suspected ketamine during an anti-narcotics operation in Lau Fau Shan. The market value of the seizure was about $600,000. A man was arrested.
Customs officers intercepted a private car at Sha Kong Wai in Lau Fau Shan this morning and found the suspected ketamine inside the car. The driver was arrested. The 38-year-old arrestee, who claimed to be a car salesperson, was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and one count of possession of dangerous drug. The arrestee will appear at the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (November 29).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
