Hong Kong Customs seized about 2.5 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated market value of about $2.3 million.
A 52-year-old female passenger arrived in Hong Kong from Peru via the Netherlands yesterday morning (November 18). During Customs clearance, this female passenger discharged packets of suspected cocaine. She was then arrested by Customs officers.
Customs officers later escorted this female to hospital who further discharged packets of suspected cocaine.
Customs officers seized a total of about 2.5 kg of suspected cocaine. Investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
