Hong Kong Customs yesterday (November 6) seized 405 suspected smuggled watches with an estimated market value of about $180,000 at Shenzhen Bay Control Point.
Customs officers intercepted an outgoing tourist coach at Shenzhen Bay Control Point and seized 405 watches from the overhead air-conditioning duct of the coach. The 43-year-old male driver was arrested. Investigation is ongoing.
Smuggling is a serious offence. Under the Import and Export Ordinance, any person found guilty of importing or exporting unmanifested cargo is liable to a maximum fine of $2 million and imprisonment for seven years.
