Hong Kong Customs seized about three kilogrammes of suspected methamphetamine at Lo Wu Control Point yesterday (December 20) and arrested an 18-year-old incoming female passenger. The market value of the drug was about $1.2 million.
Customs officers intercepted an incoming passenger at Lo Wu Control Point yesterday afternoon and found the drug contained in plastic bags placed in her hand-carry bag.
The arrested woman, who claimed to be unemployed, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. She will appear at the Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (December 22).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
