Hong Kong Customs yesterday (March 6) seized about 6 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and a small quantity of suspected ketamine with an estimated market value of about $2 million in Hung Hom.
During an anti-narcotics operation in Hung Hom yesterday afternoon, Customs officers intercepted a man and found a small quantity of suspected ketamine and 1kg of suspected methamphetamine on the man and inside the paper bag carried by him respectively. The 31-year-old man was then arrested. Later, Customs officers further seized about 5kg of suspected methamphetamine and a batch of packaging paraphernalia at a mini-storage facility in an industrial building nearby.
The arrested man claimed to be a hairstylist. Investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
