Hong Kong Customs seized about 2.2 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point today (September 14). The market value was about $720,000.
This morning Customs officers intercepted an incoming male passenger at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point and found about 2.2kg of suspected cannabis buds in a rucksack he carried.
The arrested man, aged 34 and claiming to be a logistics worker, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. He will appear at the Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (September 15).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
