Hong Kong Customs seized about one kilogramme of methamphetamine at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point yesterday (May 27) and the market value of the drug was about $0.8 million.
Customs officers yesterday afternoon seized the dangerous drug from an incoming local male passenger at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point. As a result of follow-up investigation, another local male was also arrested when he attempted to collect the dangerous drug in Fanling.
The two arrestees, aged 46 and 62, who claimed to be unemployed, were charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. They will appear at Fanling Magistrates' Court tomorrow (May 29).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
