Customs officers yesterday (March 5) arrested a man in Cheung Sha Wan and a woman in Fanling in an operation. A total of 3 030 grams of ketamine and a small amount of other dangerous drugs with an estimated street value of $390,000 were seized.
Customs officers yesterday mounted an anti-narcotics operation in Cheung Sha Wan and intercepted the man on Shun Ning Road, Cheung Sha Wan. A small amount of cracked cocaine was found on him and a small amount of cocaine and some ketamine were later found in a residential flat nearby.
After investigation, Customs officers seized around three kilogrammes of ketamine and a small amount of methamphetamine at the man's residence in Fanling and arrested a woman.
The 23-year-old man who claimed to be unemployed was charged with three counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug. The 21-year-old woman, claimed to be a salesperson was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. The two persons will appear at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (March 7).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, the maximum penalty for drug trafficking is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
