Hong Kong Customs yesterday (March 18) seized about 25.5 kilograms of suspected ketamine and arrested a man and two women in an anti-narcotics operation in Tiu Keng Leng. The market value of the drug was about $3,100,000.
Last night, Customs officers intercepted a man at Kin Ming Estate in Tiu Keng Leng, and found about 500 grams of suspected ketamine on him. After investigation, Customs officers further seized about 25 kilograms of suspected ketamine and a batch of packaging paraphernalia at the man's residence and arrested two women.
The 21-year-old man who claimed to be unemployed was charged with two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug. The 22-year-old woman, claimed to be unemployed, and the 50-year-old woman, claimed to be a clinic assistant, were jointly charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. They will appear at the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts on March 21.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
