The Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Ms Louise Ho, chaired Customs' 2023 year-end press conference on 27 March, reviewing law enforcement results and trade facilitation. Ms Ho expressed determination to strengthen agreements with existing counterparts and explore new partnerships for Asia-Pacific customs collaboration.
After the press conference, a demonstration session presented the Smart Under Vehicle Robot and the Smart Seizure Management System. The former uses AI for image comparisons to help Customs officers inspect cross-boundary vehicles and prevent smuggling. The latter leverages technology to efficiently manage a large number of seized items, improving security and optimizing storage capacity in seizure warehouses.
