C&ED Officers as Community Volunteers and Life-saving Heroes

Established in 2002, the C&ED Volunteer Team has been actively providing diverse volunteer services to people in need in society. This year, the Volunteer Team, its members and three off-duty Customs Officers were awarded the “Hong Kong Volunteer Award” and “Heroic Award” respectively by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Agency for Volunteer Service, to recognize their contributions in voluntary work and heroic act.

Three Customs Officers Receive “Heroic Award” for Rescuing Injured Hiker

Three off-duty Customs Officers, Mr Quick Sung-hei, Mr Chu Kam-pui, and Mr Cheung Tsz-long, of the Ports and Maritime Command, were recognized for their heroic actions in rescuing an injured hiker while they were enjoying water activities in South Bay last July. They received the “Heroic Volunteer Award” from the Agency for Volunteer Service. The incident demonstrated the constant vigilance, seamless collaboration, as well professionalism and dedication of the three Customs officers. ceremony on stage (1).jpg
