Inspector, Mr Kwok Chi-ching, and Customs Officer, Mr Ng King-hang, from the Computer Forensic Laboratory of the Office of Information Technology, had a keen interest in computer forensics long before joining the department. During his study, Mr Kwok learned about the department's computer forensics work through news reports, including notable cases like the world's first BT copyright infringement case and a large-scale copyright infringement website case involving a cross-boundary syndicate, Megaupload. This inspired him to join the department and apply his knowledge to contribute to society. Mr Ng, on the other hand, discovered this unique field through television and movies. Combined with his lifelong curiosity about electronics, he expressed a desire to possess the ability to explore the electronic world depicted in movies.
Both expressed their gratitude to the department for providing diverse local and overseas professional training. Last year, they participated in the national annual digital forensics competition, expanding their knowledge and enabling them to provide more efficient digital forensic services to fellow frontline officers. They share their stories with the hope of inspiring more colleagues to join the Computer Forensic Laboratory, utilizing their talents to the fullest.
