The Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, inspected the passing-out parade for 43 Probationary Inspectors and 79 Probationary Customs Officers at the Hong Kong Customs College on 24 March 2023.
In his speech, Mr Lee praised Hong Kong Customs for assisting in the full resumption of normalcy and smooth operation of all boundary control points. He also encouraged the passing-out officers to carry forward the goal of strengthening the connection to the country and the world to build a safe and efficient economic and trade environment, commit to providing quality services and the building of a strong China.
In the parade, it was the first time that the female graduated trainees wore trousers and performed Chinese-style foot drill. The Guards of Honour and graduated trainees also assembled to form the "five stars" and a bauhinia flower symbolising China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region(HKSAR), signifying the passing-out officers bearing allegiance to the HKSAR and Hong Kong's role as a bridge connecting the Mainland and the world under the principle of "one country, two systems".
Over 700 representatives from various government departments, offices of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong, Consuls-General and the private sector, as well as family members and friends of the passing-out officers, joined the Chief Executive in witnessing this momentous occasion.
