C&ED Sports Day Athletes Back on Track

C&ED Sports Day, which had been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, finally resumed and was held on 25 March 2023 at the Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground.

Six teams were formed by various Formations, around 700 athletes participated in the competition. All participating teams earned applause from the entire audience for their solidarity and perseverance!

Eventually, "Control Points Team" won the overall championship, while the "Headquarters Team" and the "Airport Team" won the first runner-up and the second runner-up respectively. The "Airport Team" also won the cheerleading championship. Meanwhile, Customs Officer Chan Yi-fung of the "Ports and Maritime Team" and Customs Officer Ms Ling Sze-wai of the "Airport Team" won the men's and women's overall championships respectively.

The C&ED Sports Day was highlighted by the inclusion of the "National Security Cup 6x100 Relay" race. Each team was composed of Customs colleagues, their family members and Customs YES members. The race aimed to demonstrate the firm stance of the entire Customs team in safeguarding national security and relaying such an important mission to our next generation.

Another highlight of this year's event was the 4x100m Inter-Departmental Invitation Relay, in which the Fire Services Department won the championship, followed by the Correctional Services Department and the Hong Kong Police Force. In addition, the Customs and Excise Band performed enthusiastically for the Sports Day, bringing an unforgettable memory to the audience and giving a perfect ending to the 2023 C&ED Sports Day.
