Hong Kong Customs pledges to strengthen Hong Kong as a connecting platform between the Mainland and the world with the goal of enhancing connectivity towards security and prosperity. Hong Kong Customs proactively maintains extensive ties with different countries and international enforcement agencies to strengthen enforcement co-operation. Several forums, talks and meetings were hosted this February to discuss anti-narcotics and combating smuggling strategies among different countries and international enforcement agencies.
Regional Customs High-level Drug Enforcement Forum
In response to the latest drug trafficking trend and strengthen co-operation between law enforcement agencies in the region, Hong Kong Customs held the Regional Customs High-level Drug Enforcement Forum between 13 and 16 February 2023. The Forum, with the theme of "Coordination, Cooperation and Cohesion", gathered more than 100 participants mainly from 40 law enforcement agencies(LEAs)and international organisations in the Asia-Pacific region to review the enforcement actions taken during the epidemic and formulate better anti-narcotics strategies.
The 6th Three-Country-Five-Party Talks
On 15 February 2023, members of the Three-Country-Five-Party Task Force, including the Anti-Smuggling Bureau of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, the Australian Border Force, the Australian Federal Police, the Hong Kong Customs, the Macao Customs Service and the New Zealand Customs Service, participated at the 6th Three-Country-Five-Party Talks, which was the first to be held after the COVID-19 pandemic. Members introduced the latest drug trafficking trends and significant cases of mutual co-operation in their respective jurisdictions, which promoted intelligence exchange and enforcement co-operation in combating transnational drug trafficking activities.
