The Customs and Excise Service Children's Education Trust Fund (Trust Fund) Scholarships Presentation Ceremony 2023-24 was held at the CESSOM on 6 June, 2024. We were also honoured to have Chairman of the Trust Fund Committee Mr Benedict Sin Nga-yan; Members Mr Stephen Tan and Ms Wendy Yuen; Honorary Advisor Mr Steve Lau Hon-wah; Member of the Trust Fund Investment Advisory Board Mr Alexander Wong; Convenor of Trust Fund Investment Strategy Expert Group Mr Fung Ka-pun; and Member Mr Wayne Cheung Wang-kei, to present scholarships to the recipients.
Sports Scholarship recipient Chris Yu Chai-hin, a member of the Hong Kong Speed Climbing Team, shared his inspiration from speed climbing and encouraged fellow students to be perseverant. He was also encouraged by his mother, Chief Customs Officer Leung Pui-shan to take on a part-time work at the climbing gym, allowing him to engage more deeply with the sport while cultivating his sense of responsibility.
Moreover, Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Scholarship recipient Fung Cheuk-lam also shared her study tips. By creating daily to-do lists for study and life, she stayed focused on her goals amidst a busy schedule. Fung's mother, Chief Customs Officer Yuen Lai-ying, shared nurturing her child's good time management skills from a young age.
