On 10 July 2024, the Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Ms Louise Ho, led a delegation to Shenzhen, where she met with the Chief of the Office of Port of Entry and Exit of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, Mr Liu Weixiang, to discuss the planning and upgrading of control point, and Smart Customs facilities. Ms Ho also visited the Huanggang Port redevelopment project and stressed that reorganising the port functions can improve customs clearance efficiency and foster collaboration among Hong Kong, Shenzhen, eastern Guangdong and neighbouring provinces.
Hong Kong Customs will align with the policies of both the HKSAR Government and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government on the redevelopment project, aiming for a better clearance experience and enhancing people flow in the Greater Bay Area.
