Support International Sport Events and Protect Intellectual Property Rights

With several international sports events beginning in June, Hong Kong Customs conducted a three-week special operation to safeguard intellectual property rights through a three-pronged strategy.

Inspection: A high-profile operation involved officers conducting inspections across the territory and informing merchants about legal requirements.

Enforcement: Customs officers combated infringing activities, leading to 33 cases and the seizure of 68,000 suspected infringing items valued at over $52 million, resulting in 9 arrests.

Education: Hong Kong Customs held seminar for "Customs YES" members to promote respect for intellectual property rights among youth and collaborated with the Intellectual Property Department to educate the catering sector on legal requirements.

Through these efforts, Hong Kong Customs strives to safeguard intellectual property and foster a favorable business environment, supporting the city's economic growth.
