Capacity Building Course on Cultural Heritage Protection

The Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Ms Louise Ho, and the Deputy Commissioner (Control and Enforcement) of Customs and Excise, Mr Woo Wai-kwan, attended the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2nd Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao Course on Capacity Building to Prevent Illegal Trafficking of Cultural Heritage, jointly organised by the National Cultural Heritage Administration and Hong Kong Customs.

The course aims to enhance the Department's ability to combat smuggling of cultural heritage and covers topics including identification of cultural heritage, relevant legislation and enforcement strategies in the Mainland. Ten Hong Kong Customs officers completed the five-day course and became members of the National Cultural Heritage Identification Team, tasked with combating trafficking and supporting frontline officers in handling national cultural heritage.
