The Community Isolation Facilities Collaboration and Operation Platform (Co-Op) developed by Hong Kong Customs has received the Smart Business (Solution for Business and Public Sector Enterprise) Bronze Award at the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2022. Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Excise (Intelligence and Investigation), Mr Mark Woo (centre), and the Senior Staff Officer of the Office of Information Technology of Customs, Mr Li Kin-kei (fourth right), led the Co-Op team to receive the award from the Chairman of the Smart Business Award Judging Panel, Professor Simon Ho (fourth left).
Facing the rampant fifth wave of the epidemic at the beginning of 2022, the Government significantly increased the provision of community isolation facilities (CIFs) within a short time, and Customs was responsible for managing the largest CIF in Tam Mei, Yuen Long. To cater for the needs of persons under isolation and facilitate communication between the occupants and staff, Customs developed the Community Isolation Facilities Collaboration and Operation Platform (Co-Op) within a week. It enables persons under isolation to check in to the isolation facilities, receive instant updates, order meals and request for supplies simply by scanning a QR code with their mobile phones. Within two weeks after the launch, Customs further enhanced the platform design to cater for all CIFs. This paperless one-stop “Cooperative, Healthy and Interoperative” platform facilitates seamless contact-free communications and efficient operation, putting into practice “people-oriented innovation” advocated by the Government.
The Co-Op has received the Smart Business (Solution for Business and Public Sector Enterprise) Bronze Award at the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2022. The Judging Panel complimented Customs on its swift action in developing the Co-Op within just seven days and this great speed was never seen in other government projects.
