Hong Kong Customs yesterday (April 6) seized about 1.3 kilograms of suspected crack cocaine in Sha Tin with an estimated market value of about $2 million. Two women were arrested.
During an anti-narcotics operation conducted in Sha Tin yesterday afternoon, Customs officers carried out a search at a hotel room and seized about 1.3kg of suspected crack cocaine and a batch of drug manufacturing and packaging paraphernalia. Two women who rented the room, aged 25 and 32, were subsequently arrested.
An investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
