The Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Ms Louise Ho, today (March 28) called on the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) in Beijing and met with the Minister of the GACC, Mr Yu Jianhua, to exchange views on deepening the co-operation between Mainland Customs and Hong Kong Customs. Ms Ho expressed her gratitude to the GACC for its continous support for the work of Hong Kong Customs.
As arranged by the GACC, Ms Ho also toured the facilities of Beijing Customs and met with the Director General in Beijing Customs District, Ms Zhang Geping, to discuss ways to deepen co-operation between the two places. Ms Ho will visit the Beijing Daxing International Airport tomorrow (March 29).
Ms Ho started her visit to Shanghai, Beijing, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) on March 26. The visit programme starts from north to south with the visits to the GACC, the Guangdong Sub-Administration of the GACC and its six Customs districts within six days.
She officiated at the opening ceremony of the First Inspector Induction Course: National and Mainland Customs Operations Studies held at the Shanghai Customs College yesterday morning (March 27). This is the first time Hong Kong Customs has arranged for Inspectors, receiving induction training, to attend a study and exchange programme in the Mainland, thereby deepening the understanding of newly recruited Inspectors about the operation and latest developments of Mainland Customs, national security and national affairs. The relevant arrangements will become a regular part of the Inspector Induction Course.
Ms Ho will then go to the GBA for meetings and visits. She will meet seperately with the Director General of the Guangdong Sub-Administration of the GACC, Mr Li Kuiwen; the Director General in Guangzhou Customs District, Mr Li Quan; the Director General in Huangpu Customs District, Mr Jin Hai; the Director General in Gongbei Customs District, Mr Zhan Shaotong; and the Director General in Shenzhen Customs District, Mr Chen Xiaoying, to exchange views on issues of mutual concern. She will also visit the Guangdong Sub-Centre of the National Information Centre of the GACC and the Air Mail Processing Centre in Guangzhou, the Customs National Targeting Bureau (Huangpu) of the GACC, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Logistics Park in Zhuhai and the Meilin Customs House.
Ms Ho will return to Hong Kong on March 31.
