Hong Kong Customs yesterday (June 9) seized about 1.2 kilograms of suspected crack cocaine and about 3 grams of suspected ketamine with a total estimated market value of about $1.8 million in Ta Kwu Ling. A man was arrested.
During an anti-narcotics operation conducted in Ta Kwu Ling yesterday evening, Customs officers intercepted a man who was boarding a private car and seized about 1.2kg of suspected crack cocaine inside a false compartment of a speaker on board the car. The 32-year-old man was subsequently arrested.
Customs officers later further seized about 3g of suspected ketamine inside another private car drove by the man.
An investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
