Customs deterred a case on April 15 in Lo Wu in which 68 grams of No.4 heroin and 15 grams of methamphetamine (ICE) with an estimated value of $60,000 was found inside the body of an incoming passenger. On suspicion that drugs were concealed inside his body cavity, Customs Officers referred him for medical examination. As a result, two pellets containing drugs were discharged from the man.
The arrested, aged 42, a Hong Kong resident, will be charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. He will appear at Fanling Magistrates’ Court on April 17.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
