Hong Kong Customs today (February 15) arrested an outgoing passenger at Hong Kong International Airport and seized five kilogrammes of suspected methamphetamine.
Customs Officers today arrested a passenger who was departing for Clark, the Philippines at the airport. About five kilogrammes of suspected methamphetamine (ice) were found concealed inside the false compartment of his suitcase. The drugs would fetch a value of about $2.1 million.
The male suspect, aged 29, claimed to be unemployed. He was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Court on February 17.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
